Refresh Carers Project Worker and Admin Support (temporary position – one year in the first instance).

2. Location

Office: Flexspace, Burley Road, Leeds LS4 2PU. Car parking available. Some outreach work in the community will also be required.

While Flexspace will be the primary place of work, where essential, some occasional home working may be negotiated.

3. Salary and working hours

  • £15 per hour

  • 10 hours per week: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.

  • 4 weeks paid leave.

5. DBS

The appointment is subject to a satisfactory DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

6. About the role

Want to make a difference to the lives of parent carers?

We have an exciting opportunity to work with the founder and trustees of Refresh Carers to develop the charity.

As stated above, the appointment is for one year in the first instance and its continuation will be depend on future funding.

Are you enthusiastic about supporting and empowering parent carers of disabled children and adults and also parents of children and adults with long term health conditions? Are you a person with excellent admin skills as well as flexibility to take on specific project work as and when needed?

Who are we looking for? We would like someone who either is a parent carer or has experience of supporting parent carers. Whilst not essential, such experience would be very desirable.

7. About us

Refresh Carers is committed to providing support to help parent carers look at their own needs and confidence to explore ways to increase and develop skills. This involves running workshops on well-being, confidence-building and carers’ rights, as well as setting personal plans and goals.

Where practicable, making policy-makers aware of the needs of parent carers.

We are a new charity - established in May 2022 – and are now looking to appoint a part-time worker to help the charity develop further.

8. What will you do?

Assist with all admin tasks

  • Responding to emails.

  • Answer the telephone (often first point of contact).

  • Record keeping.

  • Purchasing goods and services.

  • Keeping confidential records and respecting all GDPR policies.

  • Collaborate with the founder and treasurer to keep accurate financial records.

  • Assist with funding bids and reporting to funders on outcomes.

  • Attend meetings.

Workshops

Be prepared to actively support the Refresh Carers Founder in developing and running workshops.

Social media and marketing

  • Updating all social media platforms

  • Help produce marketing materials.

Essential

  • The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

  • Good organisational and communication (verbal and written) skills.

  • Flexible approach to working - no two days are the same!

  • Understanding of confidentiality.

  • Understanding safeguarding, equality and diversity, community wellbeing.

  • IT skills (ability to work with Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • Experience in the charitable sector

  • Understanding the parent carer communities in Leeds.

  • Ability to develop and deliver workshops.

  • IT qualifications

  • Preparing and presenting reports to funders.

  • Balancing a varied workload.

  • Lived experience of being an unpaid parent carer/carer or experience of supporting unpaid parent carers/carers.
